SLS Founder

The Late Rev. Dr. Lyn Bell - 8/17/58 to 3/16/19

Rev. Dr. Bell was born in Brunswick, Georgia and grew up in a family where church attendance and  worship was a mandatory part of their lives. That foundation built the  basis of her desire to serve and abide in the will of God today.

She accepted salvation 1972 in her local church.  Over the years, she served in the role of Sunday school teacher, Assistant to the  Pastor, and  Deacon.  She also developed and chaired the usher and evangelism ministries.  During this time she heard the call  from God to tell the world about Him. She began studying at the Bible  Institute of God to minister the gospel at her local church. As her  growth in Christ continued, she received training and licensing under  New Birth Deliverance Ministries in Fort Washington, Maryland and was ordained at Calvary Gospel Church, Waldorf, Maryland.   She enhanced her theological foundation with study at Maple Springs Baptist  Bible Seminary and obtained a Doctorate of Ministry from Calvary  Christian College.

In  a desire to serve more, SLS Ministries, Inc. was founded in 2003.  In  keeping the great commission on the forefront, SLS is an outreach forum to share Christ with the world through conferences,  seminars and workshops and other evangelistic outreaches.

Dr. Bell was co-pastor of His Place Worship Center and taught daily on The New Joy 100.3 radio station in Brunswick, GA.  She is also an author that published Manna Moments, a daily devotional for personal bible study over the internet.  Prior to that, she was a contributing author to the book 100 Words of Wisdom,  which was used in a national domestic violence campaign fundraiser.  Desiring to share  the gospel she has taught an outreach bible study at a shelter in  Washington, DC, a weekly bible study in a government agency, local  county jail.  She traveled throughout the country to speak at conferences, Sunday  morning worship services, retreats and workshops. As  the result of social conscious contributions in her community, Rev.  Bell was a 2009 Charles County Women Commission Honoree and the recipient of  the 2012 AKA Nu Zeta Omega Honoree for Social Justice/Human Rights  Award.  She also received several Maryland Governor Awards and  Congressional awards.

In a desire to be a servant used by God, Rev. Bell had a heart for studying of the Word, firmly believing that God's people will perish  from a lack of knowledge of the things of God. The commandment to love one another covers our lives and will allow us to serve one another as  Christ served mankind.  She was a true deliverance warrior who ministered to many and had compassion for those  who were suffering especially women.  She appointed a team to continue SLSministries that was consecrated in January 2019.  SLS Ministries continues the ministry of evangelizing...sisters lifting sisters, saints lifting souls.

The  Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the  Gospel to the poor; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to  proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the  prisoners (Isaiah 61:1).

SLS Ministries mission is to support and empower women and children.  We  operate to provide social resources, counseling, educational services  and shelter for charitable purposes. We assist women and children in  obtaining social services, education, counseling, mentoring and shelter  for victims of domestic violence and homeless women and children.  SLS  provides services without regard to race, religion, gender, sexual  orientation or national origin. .

History

SLS was  founded in 2003 for the purpose of providing workshops that focused on  topics that were relevant to real life concerns for Christians.  In the  past 12 years it has held conferences locally and as far away as Coastal  Georgia, traveled nationwide giving workshops, retreats and seminars.   Annually they reach the community in fundraising for domestic violence  awareness, feeding families, provided relief efforts during hurricane  and earthquake emergencies domestically and nationally and provides  emergency relief for families through fundraising.  In 2009 SLS  was honored by the Women's Commission of Charles County for its outreach  services to women and families, and 2010 was a AAUW Recipient and 2012  received the Humanitarian Award of Alpha Kappa Alpha.

We Believe

We believe and teach that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God given to us to govern our lives. (2 Peter 1.20,21).

We believe and teach that there is but one God Who is infinite in power,  holy in His nature, attributes and purpose: omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (everywhere).   We teach that He revealed to us the Father in creation, the Son in  redemption, and the Holy Spirit in His comforting grace that never  leaves those who trust in Him.
(I Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6; 2 Corinthians 5:19; Joel 2:28).

We believe and teach that in Jesus Christ dwelleth all the fullness of  the Godhead bodily; for it pleased the Father that in Him should all the  fullness dwell. (Colossians 2:9; Colossians 1:19).

We believe and teach the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. We  teach that He ascended on high and has sent His Spirit (the Holy Spirit,  the Holy Ghost) which was poured out at Jerusalem over 2000 years ago,  and is still filling the hearts of those who diligently seek Him today. (Acts 2:14).

We believe and teach baptism by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus  Christ for the remission of sins; we further believe in the baptism of  the Holy Spirit, the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit  gives utterance. (Acts 2:4, 38).
